Strange Land Costuming
Strange Land Costuming is a Wisconsin-based tailoring service specializing in individually commissioned, custom-fit costumes. The client requested a clean and simple website design that made use only of HTML. She also asked that I maintain the dark blue background and white font with yellow links used in the previous version of the site.
Since the website would include the client's portfolio, I had to come up with a page layout that would showcase photos of each costume along with its description. In addition, I wanted to come up with something a little more creative than the most obvious route of a plain, straightforward listing of her portfolio items.
Keeping all these requirements in mind, I came up with a clean and simple design that enclosed details and photos of each costume in its own box.
As a finishing touch, I created a banner of the client's business name based on a sample image that she loved.
Services provided

- Website implementation
- Graphic design and development
- Editing of initial client-provided content using "writing for the web" principles

Testimonial
I know how ridiculous it is to expect someone to read your mind and understand what you want for a site design, but Li-Na managed to take my rambling descriptions of what I wanted and turn it into the perfect layout.
As requested, she kept my colors and my background choice while adding a new banner I love. She also streamlined the whole menu and gallery layout to make it extremely easy to read and navigate. She went above and beyond the call of duty to fix my pictures and present them in a way that is pleasing to the eye as well as clear and concise to understand.
I can't believe how much my new site has increased efficiency! The inquiries I get now are much more well-informed because people have gone through the site and gotten their basic questions answered clearly. When they email me for an estimate, they start right off with specific questions and I'm not stuck trying to explain the same old things over and over again.
